Dear Celia, I don’t know your last name and I don’t know where you live. But I know you have two young boys. Twins I believe. And I know you didn’t have a flash forward. I understand how terrifying that is and how powerless you must be feeling. I want you to know that you are not alone and that your situation is not as hopeless as you think. Our paths were meant to cross. I didn’t know how I didn’t know when. But things have changed now. Things are no longer going to unfold as I had feared. My gift to you is release from that dread… from the feeling that you are no longer in control. We will never meet. I will never know you. So live your life. Live everyday and know that the future is unwritten; make the most of it.

“FlashForward, ultimately, is a frustrating series, because the mystery/revelation factor doesn’t play out in a satisfying or believable manner. Serious issues and questions get raised and then dropped, when if they truly existed in that world, in our world, they would have become a priority; Charlie’s knowledge of D.Gibbons is a good example. The show will get around to explaining that when it wants to, but the dropping of that issue doesn’t fit into the reality of that world; which is supposed to be our reality. There’s nothing that’s preventing these people from following up certain leads or figuring out certain things other than it’s not time for them to do that yet. It makes the characters stand out as being contrived, conceived devices, and not real people that we can invest our emotions in.”- IGN TV
FUCKING YES. i’ve just caught up with the last two episodes of flashforward and this sums up everything i feel about the show. it has unbelievable potential and sometimes it does really, really well but it’s inherently flawed in that it’s on network television and has to contruct its plotlines to fit nicely into 44 minutes. i want to love it so badly, and i will still watch it (for john cho and his leather jackets and his quips and his FACE) but for now it’s not really hitting home as much as it could.
tl;dr? enjoy the picture of john cho on a bike. i need to stop reading reviews y/y

Okay. IGN and Lightnings make valid points, but this is a show still getting on it’s feet. I wish, like many people, that this show was focusing more on the character development than the super-complicated/broad/awesome plot. I understand that to keep it’s momentum and ratings up there needs to be a certain level of movement and action/drama each episode. However, great shows with high concept plots have accomplished both concept and character (see: The Wire, Heroes Season 1, LOST, Firefly)
Leaving one area of mystery to delve into another can be fulfilling much later on (see: What Lies In The Shadow Of The Statue and What are the Reavers?). Although I wish we had gotten more character development of the famous jet jackson before he took the leap of desperation I respect that dramatic decision (watching the characters respond to the suicide was what really could have sold that moment, i think they pulled their punches in that scene). I enjoy the unpredictability of the show early on. I’m never quite sure who they’re going to focus on each episode and where that will lead us in the overarching plot.
FlashForward is still a show in it’s infancy. It’s potential for greatness hasn’t diminished to me and the public expectation for instant returns can kill a show before it really gets moving (see another Whedon show recently axed Dollhouse). I hope FF fans watch and enjoy as this show reveals to us many of the predetermined plot points and character stories and explores ones the writers haven’t thought of yet.

The Famous Jet Jackson… not living up to his name.
too soon? NO! We knew nothing about him! i didn’t even know his character’s name. Seriously if this show had balls they’d kill off Agt. Benford and have John Cho and Janet McLesbo take over the case while battling THEIR OWN FLASHESFORWARD! AHHHH!
I have no words.
